Administrative Support Assistant

This position is located on the Southern Region R8, National Forest in Florida The incumbent is responsible for performing, providing and/or advising on a variety of administrative management services regarding a specialized area or program the unit/staff supports.   • Provides training and advisory services to the staff in all program administrative procedures ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Establishes, maintains and revises the office filing system.
  • Responds to inquiries, questions, and complaints from the general public and other government agencies
  • Prepares and answers correspondence relevant to the specialized area or program.
  • Provides administrative support in the specialized area or program the unit/staff supports.

Provide course descriptions as necessary. Specialized Experience Requirement: GS-06: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-05. Specilized experince is defined as theree or more of the following: Providing support and assistance processing a wide variety of requisitions; reconciling purchases and maintaining files; Processing incoming and outgoing mail; Establishing and maintaining the unit's files, accountable property inventories, records, etc. (hardcopy and/or electronic format); and/or Using automated software to produces reports, correspondence and other written documents in draft form. GS-07: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-06. Specialized experience is defined as three or more of the following: Providing administrative oversight for business processes for the unit or program, such as financial, procurement, personnel, etc.; Carrying out new systems or administrative processes to meet unit needs; Using automated databases and software to produce reports and record information; and/or Preparing correspondence, forms, reports, and other documents with a wide variety of technical terminology from rough drafts, notes, or oral instructions. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
