Engineering Technician (Mechanical)
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This is a PERMANENT position as an Engineering Technician (Mechanical) with the Directorate of Public Works at Fort Jackson, SC.
- Develop detailed statement of work, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for work to be accomplished by construction contracts.
- Develop preliminary and final design plans using Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawing and analysis systems.
- Receive assignments in the form of a work request or through automated systems for project development.
- Review all engineering drawings, plans, specifications, standards, regulations and other applicable references.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes (1) preparing, reviewing, and editing drawings, schematics, sketches, and specifications in electronic formats; (2) preparing or editing contract documents (e.g., Performance Work Statement, PWS; Statement of Work, SOW); (3) analyzing and interpreting data to solve problems, develop recommendations, or provide evaluations; AND (4) executing and coordinating quality management activities (e.g., field observations, testing, reporting, sampling, plan review).
