PROGRAM LEADER- Weekend In The Woods

The Program Leader supports the delivery of Weekend in the Woods respite retreats, typically running 2–4 days at a
time. This role is designed for short but highly engaged program sessions where flexibility, adaptability, and strong
participant support are essential. Program Leaders support participant inclusion, provide personal care, facilitate
inclusive and engaging programming, and stay overnight with participants in cabins to create a safe, positive living
environment. Because of the short duration and immersive nature of these programs, Program Leaders are expected to
be highly energetic, collaborative, and committed to making each retreat memorable and impactful.

1. Adapt activities to participant needs, creating safe, fun, and inclusive opportunities for participants of all ages

and abilities. Help facilitate engaging lesson plans suited to short-term program goals. Assist in camp-wide

events, evening activities, and special theme programming.

2. Serve as cabin staff, contributing to group living, participant supervision, and community building over a

short timeframe. Provide respectful personal care support (including toileting assistance) if required. Build

positive connections with participants and families in a compressed timeframe, focusing on inclusion and

relationship-building.

3. Maintain assigned living and activity spaces and equipment so they are safe and ready for immediate use.

Support efficient program transitions and quick turnarounds between activities. Communicate promptly

with the Program Director regarding supplies, safety, or participant needs.

4. Work closely with the Program Director and other staff to ensure smooth operation of short-term programs.

Maintain flexibility to step into varied roles (activity leader, cabin support, event facilitator) depending on

program needs. Model professionalism, enthusiasm, and inclusive practices throughout the retreat.

5. Follow all camp safety policies and emergency procedures. Remain attentive to the medical, emotional, and

behavioral needs of participants during the retreat. Ensure all activities and cabin life are conducted in a

manner that prioritizes safety and participant well-being.
