Biography:
Security Clearance: Confidential Clearance
Military Experience: 0.5 years
Work Experience:
I believe my overall experience in the military, security and law enforcement is a great match for this position. In the past while in volunteer law enforcement , I have been responsible for patrolling certain areas in order to deter crime, while communicating with members of the community and being able to analyze the activities on an entire street corner.
I have recently completed military training where I learned military ethics, resiliency, tactical combat casualty care, risk management, field exercise, rifle marksmanship and anti terrorism tactics. This experience in itself should allow me to qualify for this position.
I developed strong values and skills in the military that give me a platform to perform at a high level within an organization and to bring value. In the Army I operated with the Seven Core Values in my work, and I made those values mine. I learned the strong impact on the seven army values espoused by our branch could have on a life. They are LOYALTY, DUTY, RESPECT, SELFLESS SERVICE, HONOR, INTEGRITY and PERSONAL COURAGE. I know that these Army values and skills will be essential and useful for any company.
In the military I was trained on logistics automation, field services, supply chain and material management. Furthermore, I was trained to log all incoming and outgoing items in the system. I am eager to find work that will allow me to apply my military background, skills and interests in learning new things that can benefit the airport industry in a way that would give me the opportunity to grow and build a solid career so I can have a life where i can demonstrate my passion for showing leadership skills, creativity and social abilities can be my everyday life.My overall vision is to work as an airport operations personnel, logistics, human resources, security management or emergency response. I am curious to learn and see how an airport functions behind the scenes. I want to apply and use my military skills in what would be the daily operations of an airport.
My duties included logistics automation, field services, supply chain and material management. In other words my daily tasks were logging all incoming and outgoing items in the system, stocking items, organizing them in the system by using codes and process items that were going to be shipped. These items were vehicle parts, which needed to be stocked right away to avoid confusion. That is where being adaptable and proactive come into play and it is essential to this type of work especially when it gets extremely busier than usual. The work of automated logistical specialist would make me become a problem- solving individual on the spot. While being in the Army I gained adaptability, optimism, engagement and proactive skills, aside from that I also learned problem-solving and situational awareness skills. Furthermore, these were the skills I gained in the Army are useful and can be applied in other aspects of life, especially a new career.
I developed strong values and skills in the military that give me a platform to perform at a high level within a company and bring value to that company. In the Army my job was to ensure that all incoming and outgoing items were sorted, organized and logged into the system. It was essential that all items were accounted for and properly stored. I operated with the Seven Core Values of the Army in my work, and I made those values mine. I will start with my favorite Army value, Integrity. Integrity means to always do the right thing even when noone is looking, this can be applied in the daily operations of the warehouse, where in a fast paced environment its tempting to not properly log in the items or one can attempt to steal items when there is no supervision. Since most of the items being processed were military vehicle parts it meant they were expensive, therefore had to be logged incorrectly. Furthermore, lack of integrity in this job can directly impact the organization or company. Honor was another strong value I developed. When I start a job, I see it all the way through, I take pride and responsibility for each task and don't stop until the assignment is completed. Companies will value someone like me that brings a positive work ethic to the workplace each day.
I also developed important technical and intangible skills that make me valuable. As an Automated Logistical Specialist my daily tasks were logging all incoming and outgoing items in the system, stocking items, organizing them in the system by using codes and process items that were going to be shipped. I learned to follow a specific set of rules so that the process was consistent and each item was carefully accounted for. I am well aware that companies value consistency and responsibility, and that's me. But that's not to say that I can't adapt when needed, because adaptability is a strong intangible skill required to do well in the military. For example, an unexpected shipment would arrive and any other tasks I was working on would have to be temporarily paused. Me and my coworkers would get a team of to 4 and begin to unload and process the incoming items. Knowing how to follow protocol and how to adapt while working under pressure are skills I will bring to the company that hires me.
While working in the security industry in different locations I had numerous tasks. These tasks included patrolling assigned areas of the building, assisting employees and incoming visitors with their IDs, provide fireguard services for areas under construction, assigned protection detail for the Christmas tree and promote omnipresence for the Today Show crowd.
