DATA SCIENTIST

This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command. It is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA EIC/ENTRPRS INTEGR AND INNOV CTR.


  • Performs a broad range of data analyses assignments entailing unique problems, creativity, innovative use of techniques, advance approaches and or new technology.
  • Leads the development and documentation of operational concepts and strategies for assigned programs/projects.
  • Develops and automates large scale, high-performance data processing systems and tools to improve data quality.
  • Plans and conducts statistical data analytics projects and/or studies to evaluate, design, and tabulate statistical sampling plans and analytical procedures and processes.
  • Participates in meetings, conferences, briefings, and seminars related to data analytics program planning, technologies, and support system concepts.

Requirements

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. Basic Requirements: Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. or Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience. Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-14, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Experience leading complex data science initiatives utilizing machine learning, artificial intelligence (AI) , language processing, and statistical modeling; designing, automating, and maintaining large-scale data pipelines and ensuring that all data analytics infrastructures comply with cybersecurity and information security standards.
