Administrative Support Assistant

This position is located on the Northern Region, R1 or Eastern Region, R9. This position performs a wide variety of administrative tasks for Ranger District personnel. The incumbent manages tasks related to budgeting, accounting, agreements, travel, human resources, file organization, correspondence preparation, office automation systems, and property management.   • Maintains a detailed knowledge of travel policies and regulations to serve as a technical resource to unit personnel.
  • Prepares travel requests and vouchers for travel.
  • Advises on travel allowances and requirement and ensures adherence to travel regulations.
  • Uses automated systems and software for travel and voucher preparation.
  • Provides support for grants and agreements on the Ranger District.
  • Develops and implements new systems or administrative processes to meet unit needs.

Requirements

Specialized Experience Requirement: For the GS-06 grade level: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as one or more of the following: Provided support and assistance processing a wide variety of requisitions; reconciled purchases and maintained files; Processed incoming and outgoing mail; Established and maintained the office files, accountable property inventories, records, etc. (hardcopy and/or electronic format); and/or used automated software to produces reports, correspondence and other written documents in draft form. For the GS-07 grade level: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as two or more of the following: Carried out new systems or administrative processes to meet business needs; received and reviewed all formal ingoing/outgoing correspondence for proper format, grammar, punctuation, etc.; used automated databases and software to produce reports and record information; established and maintained manual and electronic records and filing systems; and/or produced written documentation, reports, memos, etc. in final format. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
