Job Title: Appointment Transporter
Supervisor: Appointment Specialist
Department: Residential
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Position Summary
The Appointment Transporter is responsible for safely transporting participants to and from medical and other scheduled appointments while ensuring effective communication with healthcare providers and the Appointment Specialist. This position supports the coordination of participant healthcare needs, maintains accurate documentation, and promotes the health, safety, and well-being of individuals served by KCARC.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide safe and reliable transportation for participants to and from scheduled appointments.
- Communicate relevant and appropriate information to healthcare providers and other professionals involved in participant care.
- Ensure the Medical Information Form is completed and returned following each appointment.
- Notify the Pharmacy Specialist immediately of any new medications, medication changes, or provider orders.
- Assist with printing and maintaining compliance documentation and compliance label books.
- Complete all required Individual-Specific Trainings and remain current on updates.
- Monitor, track, and document participant weights and calorie counts as assigned.
- Participate in the Emergency Room (ER) on-call rotation as scheduled.
- Assist participants with personal care needs when transporting them to appointments, as required.
- Represent KCARC professionally and communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain current and organized participant folders and reference materials to support efficient access to information.
- Report vehicle maintenance concerns, safety issues, or operational problems to the designated supervisor immediately.
- Maintain a positive, professional, and customer-focused attitude at all times.
- Present a neat, clean, and professional appearance consistent with KCARC standards.
- Administer medications in accordance with agency policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Safely perform physical tasks associated with participant care, including frequently lifting and/or moving up to 75 pounds independently and more than 75 pounds with assistance.
- Support participant health, safety, and dignity in all interactions.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Work additional hours as needed to meet operational and participant service needs.
Physical Requirements
The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. The position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, transferring, and assisting participants. Employees must be capable of independently lifting and/or moving up to 75 pounds and over 75 pounds with assistance.
Work Schedule
This position may require a flexible schedule to accommodate participant appointments, emergencies, operational needs, and on-call responsibilities. Additional hours, when needed, are mandatory.

Qualifications
- Must maintain reliable transportation available for use during working hours, possess a valid driver's license, and provide proof of current automobile liability insurance.
- Must maintain a satisfactory driving record.
- Must obtain and maintain authorization from KCARC to operate agency vehicles.
- Must maintain a flexible work schedule to meet departmental needs.
- Must demonstrate a working knowledge of HIPAA regulations and consistently protect participant confidentiality and privacy.
- Must maintain professional appearance and personal hygiene standards.
- Must communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Must demonstrate tact, professionalism, empathy, and respect when interacting with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Must establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with participants, families, coworkers, and community partners.
- Must be able to work independently while also contributing effectively in a team environment.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
- Must demonstrate accountability, sound judgment, initiative, and leadership abilities.
- Must be capable of performing effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
- Any change in qualification status that may affect employment requirements must be reported to Human Resources immediately.
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
Certifications/Licenses/Registrations
- Medication Administration Certification (Core A and Core B) required.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification required.

Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee may occasionally be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and varying outdoor weather conditions.
- The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate but may occasionally be loud.
