License and Permit Specialist
If you have succeeded in a busy call center, bank branch, patient-registration department, airline or hospitality operation, government intake office, or high-volume retail setting, this $21.50-per-hour South Dallas role can turn that experience into responsible public-service work. Located near I-20, US-67, and Wheatland Road, it is positioned for candidates in Oak Cliff, Duncanville, DeSoto, Cedar Hill, Lancaster, Glenn Heights, and southern Dallas County seeking a structured weekday career path. Successful conversion can lead to permanent state employment with generous state benefits under applicable eligibility rules.
The position calls for calm authority: you will help people understand detailed requirements, make consistent decisions, and keep the line moving without sacrificing accuracy or respect. You will be paid while completing structured training and gaining the specialized experience needed to pursue permanent opportunities with the state.
Who you will be working with
You will work in a large state public-service center that serves a high daily volume of residents. Customers may arrive after a long wait or without the required documents, so the role demands clear explanations, firm boundaries, and emotional control. Daily production goals make organization and steady follow-through essential.

• Meets established accuracy, quality, and daily processing expectations.
What are we looking for
• Two years of customer-service experience in an onsite, customer-facing environment.
• Graduation from a two-year college is preferred.
• Relevant experience and education may substitute for one another.
• A valid Texas-issued driver license and clean driving record are required because employees administer road tests in applicant vehicles.
• Ability to learn and apply detailed laws, policies, procedures, and document requirements.
• Ability to remain professional when customers are frustrated, disagree with a decision, or must return with additional documentation.
• Ability to work onsite, maintain daily productivity standards, and complete a highly regimented training program.
